Read your runway in 60 seconds
One number tells you how long you can keep going. How to get it right.

What runway means
Runway is how many months you can keep operating if nothing changes: no new revenue, no cuts. It is the most useful single number for deciding whether to hire, spend or wait.
The simple formula
Take the cash you can actually use today and divide it by your average monthly net burn: money out minus money in, over the last three months.
Example: $142,000 in the bank, $15,000 average net burn a month. Runway is 142,000 ÷ 15,000 = about 9.5 months.
Where people get it wrong
Counting cash that is already owed, like GST collected or payroll due next week.
Using one unusually good or bad month instead of a three-month average.
Ignoring a big annual bill, like insurance or a software renewal.
What a healthy number looks like
Doing it in Cashier
Ask "what is my runway?" and the CFO agent calculates it from your bank and accounting data, shows the months it used, and flags anything that looks unusual. Turn on a weekly update and it lands in your Monday summary.
